July already! Looks promising to have a great night for hiking tomorrow night. I had mentioned McHugh Creek last week but after talking to a friend who has spent more time down there than I have, I think Rainbow Peak is a better choice. It is just a bit further down the Highway, but is a shorter hike and doable in an evening (we'd have to cut McHugh Creek short whether we chose Rabbit Lake or the Peak). So, Rainbow Peak is described here: http://www.akhs.atfreeweb.com/Hikes/Rainbow.htm. The trailhead is at mile 108.3 of the highway. It is the second trailhead, the first being McHugh Creek, about 12 miles south of Anchorage. We'll head out of the trailhead about 6:15. Hope to see you there.
